The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

The months of March and April are one of Rusty's favorite time of the year (next to hunting season of course), because this is the time of the year that Sage Grouse strut. Rusty has studied these birds for the past 4 years now and is very passionate about these little guys as well as quite the expert. So anyway back to my post...Rusty was out the other morning at the crack of dawn counting leks and he got a couple of great shots of the grouse. It really is beautiful so I thought I would share with everyone. Just so you know what you are looking at the males are the birds with the big white necks and spiked tail feathers (trying to impress the ladies) and the females are and little plain looking things.

The amazing thing about these pictures is that Rusty was just using a cheap camera from his work and he got these cool shots. I hate to brag, but Rusty is a pretty good photographer...I sure am proud of my guy and all his talents!!

GORGEOUS! They really are neat to see when they strut. It is very interesting to watch their "boobies" jiggle around, too!
